IMPRESSIONS

As humans, our domestic lives often leave impressions on us both physically and mentally. Ordinary things such as clothing and jewelry shape who we are as individuals. I set out with the goal of capturing these impressions, impressions that can be seen in day to day routines, yet often are not thought twice about. By abstracting the body on which the impressions lay, the marks are seen as intricate patterns rather than the seemingly mundane marks we are so used to looking over. A few of the impressions I sought out were marks left by socks, waistbands, and even those left on us after sleeping. The choice to have the images in black and white was made so that the viewer is not distracted by the impressions being on skin and can focus on the detailed patterns left on us by our everyday lives.
